Thank you for visiting the NMMI Foundation, Inc. and for considering how your generosity can shape the future of New Mexico Military Institute and its Corps of Cadets. It is an honor to serve as the Foundation’s new President and CEO, and I am deeply grateful for the trust placed in me as we continue this important work together.
I am also pleased to share an important milestone for the NMMI Foundation. Our most recent reporting confirms that the Foundation has officially surpassed $100 million in total assets. This achievement reflects decades of careful stewardship, the generosity of our donors, and the unwavering commitment of those who believe in NMMI’s mission. It is a moment worth celebrating-and a reminder of the responsibility we carry to ensure these resources continue to strengthen the Institute for generations to come.
I want to recognize the people whose work made this possible. Jimmy Barnes, our outgoing President and CEO, dedicated more than 34 years of service to NMMI and was the first to notice that we had crossed this threshold. His experience and deep knowledge of the Foundation continue to be invaluable. I am also grateful for the support of Jennifer Rawdon, our Administrative Specialist, whose diligence and institutional knowledge have been essential as I learn the responsibilities of this role and work to ensure our financial reporting remains accurate and timely.
My connection to NMMI is both professional and personal. I have spent nearly two decades serving this institution-as an Instructor, Associate Professor, Assistant Chief Financial Officer, and most recently as Chief Financial Officer. All three of my sons attended NMMI, two of them completing the full six year journey. I have seen firsthand how this place transforms young men and women into leaders of character, resilience, and purpose. That transformation is why the Foundation exists, and why your support matters so profoundly.
For many years, the Foundation has focused on providing essential resources for cadet scholarships, academic programs, leadership development, athletics, and cadet activities. These investments have opened doors for countless young people and strengthened the Institute’s ability to deliver on its mission. As we look to the future, I am committed to continuing this legacy of support-and also to exploring new ways the Foundation can partner with NMMI to meet emerging needs and opportunities. Our role is evolving, and together we will determine how the Foundation can do even more to advance the Institute’s vision.
NMMI’s mission-to recruit, retain, educate, train, and transform young men and women into leaders of global impact-is more vital today than ever. Its core values of duty, honor, and achievement shape every cadet and guide every member of our community. These values also guide the Foundation’s work and our commitment to stewarding your generosity with integrity and purpose.
Your support makes this mission possible. Every gift-large or small-directly impacts the cadets who will lead with distinction in a complex and rapidly changing world. Your trust fuels their education, their character development, and their future.
Thank you for your continued support of the NMMI Foundation and the Corps of Cadets. I look forward to working with you as we build on our strong foundation and chart an exciting path forward for the Institute we all care so deeply about.
