Cadet Life

Prepare yourself for a fresh start and a new you. At NMMI we are focused on getting the most out of every day – from learning to physical activities to helping each cadet become the best they can be.

A typical day at NMMI starts early and is full of activities and purpose. Cadets attend classes, exercise, and participate in a variety of extracurricular activities.

The NMMI campus police department provides for the safety of cadets, employees, visitors, security of property on campus, and for the smooth operation of campus activities that involve vehicular and/or pedestrian traffic. Campus police officers are present 24 hours per day, patrolling the grounds both in vehicles and on foot.

Emergencies (on campus): 8421 or 9-911

Non-emergencies: (575) 624-8421

The campus Marshall Infirmary has a capacity of 38 beds and is prepared to treat cadets for minor illnesses and injuries. A nurse is on duty 24 hours a day and is available for sick calls Monday – Friday starting at 7:00 a.m. The infirmary can be reached at (575) 624-8235.

Routine medical and dental care should be arranged by you during school breaks with your local provider. Minor illnesses are treated or referrals are made to Roswell physicians, if deemed necessary, by the medical staff. There is no charge for an office call or for confinement at the Infirmary, however, you will be billed for any lab tests, or drugs prescribed.

The Marshall Infirmary cannot provide for hospitalization and/or other needs such as dental care and sub-specialty care. Cadets are encouraged to purchase supplemental health insurance for these uncommon, but costly medical needs. Health and accident insurance plans are not offered through NMMI.

In instances of sudden serious illness or accident, cadets are transported to a local area hospital by ambulance.

Medication

Prescribed medications, regardless of origin, must be turned over to the NMMI Infirmary. Infirmary staff will be available at matriculation to collect medications. All medications must be controlled and stored at the Infirmary. Misuse, abuse or unauthorized possession of prescription or over-the-counter drugs may result in immediate suspension.

Roswell Health Care
Providers
In an effort to maintain positive relationships with local care providers, some local providers require deposits from parents before NMMI cadets are examined. In non-emergency cases, you will be notified to mail or wire funds for this purpose. We ask that parents respond promptly when invoiced by Roswell health care providers.
