Be the leader you dream to be! NMMI prepares you with solid academics and a focus on personal character development to put you on the path for a bright future.
NMMI’s high school program is designed as a military academy college preparatory course of study with a goal of developing well-rounded leaders. 100% of our NMMI high school graduates are accepted to 2-year or 4-year colleges. We offer small classroom sizes with a 16:1 cadet to faculty ratio and 98.3% of NMMI’s faculty hold a masters degree or doctorate, the highest of all private schools in New Mexico. Our advisors work closely with our cadets to ensure they are well prepared for their desired futures and continuing education. Our military academy program goes beyond just academics to prepare the whole person through leadership skills and lifelong friendships.
Graduation requirements include twenty-three units for a diploma including four years of English, and mathematics (successfully completing Algebra 2 or higher), three years of laboratory sciences, two years of foreign language, three years of social sciences (World History, U.S. History, American Government, and Economics). Other requirements include one semester each of communications, computer literacy, and practical or fine arts.
The Scholars program builds on the educational excellence of NMMI by encouraging talented students to gain a broad knowledge base and understanding of the interaction and interrelationships between diverse academic disciplines.
Admission to the Scholars Program is competitive. Requirements include: entering as a high school freshman and having a minimum 3.5 GPA at the end of the freshman year, writing a letter of interest and obtaining teacher recommendations.
“A liberal education is the best preparation for success in life because it provides a foundation in learning that includes the liberal arts like language, philosophy, and the humanities, and what is commonly called STEM – science, technology, engineering, and math. Our Scholars Program is for the exceptional student who has a passion for learning for the primary reason to better understand the world within us and around us and engage both successfully.” – BG Douglas Murray, USAF (retired), NMMI Dean of Academics
