New Mexico Military Institute at the NJCAA Rules Summer Conference

Brigadier General (Ret.) Voris W. McBurnette, Athletic Director Jose Barron, and Compliance Officer Shelby Fortchner proudly represented New Mexico Military Institute at the NJCAA Rules Summer Conference, held adjacent to the NJCAA National Office in the University area of Charlotte, North Carolina.

 

During the conference, the NMMI team engaged with several NJCAA officials as discussions centered on promoting the future success of student-athletes. Key topics included maintaining academic standards, understanding evolving rules and compliance expectations, and strengthening staffing structures to avoid common institutional pitfalls.

 

This visit also provided Brig. Gen. McBurnette the opportunity to reciprocate the visit made by NJCAA President Dr. Parker when he assumed his role in 2024, further strengthening the relationship between NMMI and the NJCAA.
