Instead of a traditional paper-and-pencil final exam, the cadets of Forensic Science II participated in a hands-on crime scene investigation to demonstrate their understanding of classroom concepts in a realistic setting. This practical assessment allowed them to apply their knowledge and skills in an authentic crime scene scenario.
The simulation was enhanced with the use of an actual police vehicle with emergency lights, police line tape, and other essential materials to replicate a real-world investigative environment. Cadets followed standard crime scene processing procedures, including securing and cordoning the area, conducting systematic photography, creating detailed sketches and measurements, and properly collecting and preserving evidence while maintaining chain of custody.
Through this immersive experience, cadets strengthened their critical thinking, attention to detail, teamwork, and procedural accuracy—skills essential in the field of forensic science. The activity not only reinforced theoretical learning but also provided valuable insight into the responsibilities and challenges faced by professionals in real crime scene investigations.
