Aviation Pathways at NMMI

At New Mexico Military Institute we offer programs for all levels of aviation interest. From hobbyists to those looking for a career, we have opportunities to explore multiple avenues related to flight. Cadets can also gain hands on aviation learning through on campus flight simulators. Through these featured programs, cadets can learn the basics of aviation such as how aircraft are controlled, to advanced aviation principles such as aerodynamics.

Civil Air Patrol

New Mexico Military Institute proudly hosts a unit of the New Mexico wing of the Civil Air Patrol. The Civil Air Patrol was founded in 1942 as a volunteer public service organization chartered by Congress that focuses on core missions of emergency services, aerospace engineering, and youth development. Cadets, ages 12 – 18, participate in weekly meetings and monthly events with a week long summer camp where they learn leadership, aerospace, fitness, and character.

He or she may have applied to an academy previously and not been admitted or may have just decided to apply. Often an Academy will suggest to a student that they spend a year at NMMI to become better prepared for application.
