IPA Additional Services Waiver

The NMMI Intermediate Preparatory Academy utilizes several cloud based services as part of normal operations and for classroom instruction. This permission form describes how the services are used and data they collect. Authorization from the Parent/Guardian for their IPA Student is needed for students to use the services. As with any educational endeavor, a strong partnership with families is essential to a successful experience.

The following services will be in use. Online privacy policies for each services can be found at the links provided:

  1. CK-12 Foundation – Online science curriculum. Collects student name, email address, and course information.
  2. ALEKS Math – Online Math curriculum. Collects student name, email address, and course information.
  3. HotLunch (Use is Optional) – Allows parents to purchase lunches for students. Collects credit card info, names, billing addresses.
  4. Blocksi – Web Filtering security application to restrict inappropriate web content. Collects student IDs and email addresses
  5. Canva for Education– Free online graphic design tool. Collects student names and email addresses.
  6. Instructure Canvas – Student Learning Management System used in digital course management and learning. Collects student IDs, names, email addresses, and course information
  7. Magic School – Website and Chrome Extension that provides AI-powered tools to help teachers with tasks such as lesson planning, designing assignments, quiz and test generation, and feedback on student work.

Technology use at NMMI is governed by federal laws including:

  1. Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
  2. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)


Guidelines for the responsible use of Microsoft 365 for Education by students:

  1. Official Email Address. All students will be assigned a username@nmmi.edu email account. This account will be considered the student’s official NMMI email address until such time as the student is no longer enrolled
  2. Prohibited Conduct. Please refer to the NMMI Computer Authorized Use Policy (CAUP)
