The Goddard Rockets (3-2) won their third-consecutive game Monday night, downing the New Mexico Military Institute Colts (0-4) by a final score of 76-43.
Senior point guard LeAnthoney Harrison and junior center Dalin Stanford led all scorers with 19 points each. Senior forward Ethan Coombes had 17 points and junior guard Jessie Reyes pitched in with eight.
Dalin Stanford also hauled down 19 rebounds to score a double-double for the night.
“He needed that type of game to gain more confidence,” said Goddard head coach Anthony Mestas. “It was our fourth game in five days and we missed a lot of free throws. We’ll need to really prepare to play Gallup on Thursday in Artesia.”
The Rockets and Lady Rockets will take part in the City of Champions Classic in Artesia beginning Thursday.
The Colt JV lost its second straight one-point game, falling 50-49 to Goddard. Hector Reyna led the NMMI scoring with 13 points, while Jesus Najar added 12 and Nigel Grubbs 10. The Colt freshmen fell 59-44, with Luis Silva picking up 14 points.
The varsity and JV will be back in action at home Tuesday vs. Capitan and Thursday vs. Hagerman.
