VA Educational Benefits Information
NMMI is an approved place of study for veterans and dependents of veterans. The Registrar and Assistant Registrar are the School Certifying Officials.
To receive education benefits, your enrollment must be certified by NMMI.
The first step in the process if for you to apply to use your benefit. Visit the Department of Veterans Affairs education and training webpage and apply for your Certificate of Eligibility (COE). There are other ways to apply for benefits. However, applying online is the quickest method. After you apply, the VA will process the application. The average processing time for education claims is 30 days.
After you receive your Certificate of Eligibility letter, bring a copy of this document to the Registrar’s Office. This document tells you and us the benefit you are eligible for, the length of time you are eligible to use the benefit and the % of the benefit you are eligible for.
Each term, when you are registered for classes, you must visit our office. We will review your schedule to insure the classes on your schedule are certifiable to the VA. We need to be sure the classes you are taking are helping you get to the goal of completing your degree plan.
We will then issue a Verification of Enrollment (VA Form 22-1999) via VA ONCE to inform the VA that you are enrolled at our school and requesting education benefits. For more information regarding the veteran enrollment certification process, you may visit our office or contact us.
How do we know you want to continue to use your benefit? You must tell us on a term-by-term basis (form to come).
