Major Featherstone served in the United States Army as a Medic, from
1970-1972. He provided care for burn and psychiatric/addiction evacuees
from Viet Nam. In the spring of 1972, he returned to Roswell and
began working as a counselor for Community Action Program. These
offices later became part of the initial organization of Counseling
Associates, Inc. Major Featherstone worked as a counselor for this
agency for twenty seven years.
Major Featherstone is considered one of the senior Drug/Alcohol
specialists/counselors in New Mexico and the United States. He has
counseled for over thirty years, providing services to Roswell and
NMMI. He contracted with NMMI, as a consultant/counselor form 1986
to 1995, and was hired full-time as NMMI's Drug/Alcohol counselor in
1999.
Major Featherstone is a Certified Reality Therapist, and has lectured
extensively throughout the Southwest on counseling, assessments, and
treatment issues. He is currently an adjunct faculty member at
Eastern New Mexico University- Roswell, where he teaches Human Service
courses.
