Lieutenant Colonel Jon Graff is a 1991 graduate of the United States Military Academy with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Russian Language, commissioning as an Infantry Officer. He later went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Military Arts and Studies from the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth.
LTC Graff’s military education includes Ranger School, Airborne School, Jump Master School, Pathfinder School, the Bradley Leaders Course, the Basic and Advanced Infantry Officers Courses and the US Army Command and General Staff Officer College. Throughout his career he served in a variety of units including the 82nd Airborne Division, the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, the 25th Infantry Division, the US Army Pacific, and the 189th Infantry Brigade. He deployed to Iraq in 2004. His most recent position before coming to the New Mexico Military Institute was as the commander of the 1st Battalion, 310th Infantry Regiment at Fort Bragg, North Carolina where he trained Provincial Reconstruction Teams deploying to Afghanistan. He served as the NMMI Professor of Military Science for three years and retired in August of this year.
