Administrative Services is responsible for planning, creating, maintaining, and operating an environment conducive to the learning process.

Some of the essential functions of the VP of Facilities is to establish priorities and plans, and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Facilities Department, which is composed of various service departments. These departments are Building Services, Custodial Services, Golf & Ground Services, Mechanical Services, and Transportation/Central Receiving Services.

The VP is responsible for the development, submittal, review, and control of all budgets for the service departments, as well as responsible for funds received for Minor Capital Outlay allocations and departmental transfers for materials, labor, and sevices rendered.

The VP is responsible for continually updating long range building maintenance and construction plans, to include project budgeting requirements, to maintain the value of the New Mexico Military Institute facilities. He prepares specifications, bids, and price quotes in accordance with the State of New Mexico and NMMI procurement policies and procedures. These are just a few of the numerous essential functions our VP is responsible for.

One of the many duties of the Assistant Director of Facilities is the role of Project Manager. He must be familiar in aspects of managing projects from concept to completion. He is expected to be the focal point and representative of NMMI to all vendors involved with assigned projects. He is expected to gain any necessary licenses or certifications required locally or by the State. The Assistant Director is expected to be familiar with local, state, and federal regulations as they apply to the projects assigned.

As NMMI is a registered historical facility, the assistant director is expected to be familiar with the existing architectural standards and adhere to these standards. Standards include building exterior design, grounds, interior design, and FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures, & Equipment).

The Administrative Assistant and the Secretary of the Facilities Department are responsible for a multitude of basic and essential duties. We assist the VP of Facilities and the Assistant Director, as well as area managers, in a variety of administrative matters.

One of our essential duties is the processing of all work orders. But most of all, our responsibility is to provide Quality Customer Service to all of our customers, both internal and external.
