The NMMI choral music program is composed of high school and junior college cadets from a variety of backgrounds and levels of musical experience. Each group’s goal is to strive to develop each individual ensemble member’s musical potential while providing ample opportunities for performance participation, academic growth, and the development of leadership skills.
The Concert Choir, the Institute’s select large choral ensemble, performs a variety of musical styles for campus, community, and regional events. This group has performed for two U.S. Presidents and a Supreme Court Justice; at Disneyland, Sea World, and Six Flags Over Texas theme parks; at the United States Air Force Academy, United States Naval Academy and U.S. Coast Guard Academy Chapels; and at various military installations. The Vocal Ensemble is a select small group composed of some of the most talented singers in Concert Choir who have an interest in performing various popular styles.
Financial aid may be available for deserving Concert Choir cadets. Choral scholarships are awarded by the scholarship committee upon the Choir Director’s recommendation.
