NMMI Campus Telephone services utilize the phone company
"Resicom". Following are links to common concerns and dialing
instructions (most are within this web page).
The telephone unit and the phone number are the property of NMMI and are
provided for your use on campus. They are put here for your convenience and they
should be treated with respect, the same as any other piece of NMMI property.
There will be a $30.00 charge for a replacement unit should this telephone be
damaged in any way. The phone number is the property of NMMI. You are not
authorized to make charges to the phone number. You may not charge or
arrange for services to be billed to the NMMI phone number. If services are
charged to the NMMI phone number, service will be discontinued. Examples of
services are, but not limited to:
- Accepting collect calls
- Calling Services
- Telemarketing
- Credit cards
Off-campus calling and charges for that service are attached to your Authorization
Code (Auth Code) and not the telephone number. The Auth Code is an agreement
between you and Resicom for off-campus
service.
- DO NOT accept any collect calls from your campus telephone.
- DO NOT accept any calling service offered to you by phone.
- DO NOT have anything charged to the phone number from which
you are speaking. That number belongs to NMMI. You are not authorized
to obligate that telephone number, the New Mexico Military Institute or the
State of New Mexico.
- DO NOT give a friend or roommate your Auth Code. If and when
you do, you become responsible for the charges incurred.
- DO NOT borrow an Auth Code from anybody.
- The telephone numbers are assigned to the phone on each desk. If you
change rooms, or beds within a room, your telephone number will change and
will not be transferred to your new location.
- If you experience a problem with your telephone line or the instrument
itself, please call 4357, Information Services, and report the problem. DO
NOT ask your parents to call for you; there is information required
they cannot give the office.
- If you have questions or problems with your Resicom account - such as Auth
Code, billing, credit limit, long distance rates, etc. - please call Resicom
at 5599 from on-campus or (800) 853-1030 from off-campus and discuss it with
them.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: It is against campus policy to establish an
account, through an 800 or international number, that may be billed back to your
campus telephone number. Also, DO NOT subscribe to any discount calling
plans over the phone while living on campus. NEVER have anything billed
back to "the number from which you are speaking".
The long distance provider for the campus is Resicom. This is the ONLY
long distance provider authorized for on-campus use. Resicom offers low rates,
no connection fee, and no monthly service fee.
Unlawful use of an Auth Code is a criminal offense under state and federal
law. Your Auth Code is yours alone and must not be shared with roommates and
friends. If you provide it to others, you are responsible for all charges
incurred. By using your Auth Code to access service, you agree to pay for that
service and to abide by the terms and conditions of the service. If you suspect
fraud or theft of your Auth code, please notify Resicom immediately and request
a new code.
There are two methods of accessing your account:
- For fast account information, visit www.resi.com. Have your account number
and Auth Code available.
- Dial 5599 from on campus or (800) 853-1030 from off campus for account
information, cycle-to-date call detail, rates, and other information.
- Check or money order via US Mail (checks should be made payable to
RESICOM),
- Debiting your checking account over the Internet,
- Credit card as an automatic monthly debit. (NOTE: Credit card payment is
only available when used as an automatic monthly debit.)

Authorization Code Fraud
Resicom uses an Authorization Code (Auth Code) to bill cadets for calls
made from campus. The Auth Code authorizes charges against your account much
as a credit card number does. Anyone with the number can charge against the
account.
Unauthorized use of an Auth Code is considered theft of services and is
illegal! Resicom will investigate all cases of telephone fraud to the fullest
extent. Any case of suspected fraud needs to be reported immediately to
Resicom at extension 5599 or (800) 853-1030. In the case of suspected Auth
Code fraud, the calls will be traced and an analysis will be performed on the
originating and terminating telephone numbers. Our fraud investigation almost
always leads us to the responsible party(s). If we are unable to locate those
specifically responsible, the calls will be billed to the Cadet(s) registered
to the originating phone line.
Therefore, do not make or allow fraudulent calls to be made from your phone
as you will be held accountable. Any cadets involved in campus telephone fraud
will lose their campus telephone privileges and will face further disciplinary
action including a minimum of $25 fine. This fine is in addition to any fine
or penalties imposed by NMMI. Please see the Cadet BlueBook for more
information on the school's policies regarding telephone misuse.
Your Auth Code should be committed to memory and the card put in a safe
place. You may even want to mail the card home. If you loan your Auth Code to
anyone, you are authorizing use and therefore are responsible for charges
incurred by that person. If you dial your code in for anyone, you are
responsible for the charges. If you lose your Resicom card or think somebody
has been using your code, immediately inform Resicom and request a new Auth
Code.
