Gulitus MVP of Portales Tourney

Portales, NM -- The Colt tennis team won their second tournament of the season with 4-0 showing at the Portales High School Tournament. The girls team continued to improve with a 1-2 showing. Senior Jeff Gulitus went undefeated with a 4-0 record on his way to being named the tournament MVP.
The Colts knocked off Raton in the first round 9-0. In round two, they took on Santa Fe High and put them away 6-3. The third round brought on Class 3A rival St. Michael's. The Colts pulled out the narrow 5-4 victory in that one. The championship round brought on St. Michael's again. This time, the Colts had an easier time defeating them 6-3.
The Lady Colts won their first match of the tournament as their number four, five and six players each won their matches. Jayna Johns won 6-1, 6-3. Kenni Estrada won 8-3 and Coleen Danus won 6-0. 6-2.
Artesia gave the Lady Colts their first loss of the tournament, beating them 8-1. In the final round, Class 5A opponent, Clovis defeated NMMI 9-0.
