Colts Bring Home Artesia Tourney Title

Artesia, NM --  Make it three in a row.  The NMMI boys tennis team won their third consecutive tournament of the season as they breezed through the field at the Artesia Tournament. 

This was an individual based tournament with each seed having its own draw.  Scores from each player were then added at the end for each team's score.

The boys' team took first place overall.  In addition, boys' #2 doubles (Alvidrez/Guiltus) won 1st place in their bracket.  Boys' #1 doubles (Murillo/Rex-Horoi) took 2nd place after losing to Neeld/Fisher (Goddard) 6-3, 6-2.  Boys' singles #2 (Theo Rex-Horoi), singles #3 (Jeff Guiltus) and singles #4 (Octavio Alvidrez) all won first place in their brackets.  Carlos Murillo (#1) took 2nd place after losing to Matt Neeld (Goddard) in the finals 6-4, 6-1.  Hernandez (#5) finished 4th in his bracket.

The Lady Colts finished sixth in the eight team tournament.  Singles #6 (Olga Tysbenko) and singles #4 (Lindsay Turner) finished fourth in their brackets.  The girls team has shown continuous improvement as they went further in the tournament.
