Boys Swim Team Back-to-Back District Champs

Hobbs, NM -- The New Mexico Military Institute boys swim team won their second consecutive district championship over the weekend. They edged out Hobbs 132 to 131 to take the title. NMMI is the smallest school in the district competing against Class 5A schools Hobbs, Clovis, Carlsbad and Las Cruces. Nicholas Calderon recorded a state qualifying time in the 100 Breast with a time of 1:16:55. The 400 Free Relay also qualified for the state competition with a time of 4:12:39. James Hanks and Nicholas Calderon also qualified for the state diving competition with scores of 226.10/3 and 312.65/1 respectively. |
