Chaparral Upends Colts

Roswell, NM – NMMI out
gained Chaparral by 126 yards on offense but it was the Lobos that came
out ahead in the scoring department, winning the game 30-12. Coming
into the ball game, both teams were winless and looking for their first
win of the season.
The Colts got their
first two offensive touchdowns of the season from sophomore running back
Andrew Trujillo. Quarterback DeMarcus Doucette and fullback Harvey
Johnson both cleared the century mark for the first time this season.
Doucette totaled 134 yards on 19 carries while Johnson ran for 106 yards
on 13 carries.
On the defensive side
of the ball, Trujillo along with Rodrigo Camino led the team with 7
total tackles. They limited the Lobos to 150 yards rushing and 61 yards
passing.
NMMI falls to 0-5 on
the season while Chaparral moves to 1-5. The Colts will play only their
second road game of the season next weekend when they travel to
Tucumcari to take on the Rattlers.
