The Lynn File:
 

Coach Lynn graduated from Eunice High School in 1966.  He was honored as an All-State Football player and played in the NMHSCA All-Star Football game in the summer of 1966.  While playing in high school, the Eunice Cardinals were twice state runner-ups (1963 & 1964) and state football champions in 1965.  David put the Shot 55’2” and was twice the state champion. 

 

Coach Lynn was awarded a football scholarship to New Mexico State University.  He was a 3-year starter, as a defensive tackle his sophomore year, and as a center his junior and senior years.  Lynn played for Jim Wood and the legendary Warren Woodson while at NMSU.

 

Coach Lynn received his B.S. degree from NMSU in 1971 and his Masters degree from ENMU in 1977.  Lynn has taught a variety of subjects in nine schools at various grade levels.  H has served as Elementary Principal for two years at Texico and Athletic Director at Eunice for five years and Hagerman for three years.

Coach Lynn began his 37-year coaching career in 1970 as a graduate assistant with the NMSU Aggies.  David has had coaching stops in Tucumcari, Muleshoe, Hagerman, Lamesa, Texico, back to Hagerman, Eunice, back to Texico, Seymour, Tularosa, and now NMMI.  He has coach 4 state runner-up teams in football.  As a track coach, David has coached 2 teams to a second place finish and 2 state championships.  He has played and coached football in state championships in 5 decades – 1965 as a player at Eunice; as a Head Coach in 1977 at Hagerman; 1983 at Texico; 1991 at Hagerman, 1994 and 1995 at Eunice; and 2001 at Tularosa as an assistant coach.  The seven state championships (football and track) with Lynn as a Head Coach have been at three different schools.  He has coached the NMHSCA All-Star Football game twice; the Large School All-Stars in 1984 and the A-AA game in1996.

 

In football, Coach Lynn has been awarded District Coach of the year 8 times; awarded the NMHSCA Football Coach of the Year in 1997-98 and has 157 victories in 22 years as a Head Coach.  In 2004, Coach Lynn was inducted into the NMHSCA Hall of Fame for his services over the years.
