Colts Down Local Rivals

Roswell,
NM – In their first week back following an eleven day layoff
for the Thanksgiving break, the Colt basketball team went
3-0 after defeating local rivals Valley Christian and
Gateway Christian. Then on Saturday the defeated 2A power,
Tularosa.
The Colts
opened the week with a dominating 49-28 road victory over
Valley Christian.
Gateway
Christian looked to shock the Colts in their Friday night
contest. The Warriors jumped out to a 30-20 second quarter
lead before sophomore guard Wade Thomas took over bringing
the Colts back from the ten-point deficit.
Eric
Jaskoviak connected on a three-point shot to give the Colts
a 46-45 lead with the game in its final minutes. He would
put the game away late with two free-throws, giving the
Colts a 50-47 victory.
Saturday
night brought on one of the top 2A teams in the state. In a
hard fought game, the Colts came out on top 50-38. Thomas
led the Colts with 15 points while senior post Eduardo
Martinez pulled in a team high 10 rebounds.
The
Colts improve to 4-1 on the young season and will travel to
Socorro on Tuesday to take on the Warriors.
