Colts One Rung Closer to State |

The Colt Varsity Boys' Basketball Team moved one step closer to a State tournament slot by defeating the Ruidoso Warriors here at home last night, 62-58. The inside games of Eduardo Martinez and Giles Zollar helped give NMMI a ten point lead with less than two minutes in the third quarter. When Ruidoso tried to take the inside game away, Reid Sharpe hit two three-point shots.
Martinez led all scorers with 24 while Zollar, who might have played more minutes tonight than all his previous varsity games combined, had 14.
The Colt
team hits the road on Thursday, February 28 to tangle with the second

But
the Warriors came storming back in the fourth, outscoring the Colts 25
to 18, tying it up at one point. The Institute team regained it's
composure and gave the ball to DeMarcus Doucette to break Ruidoso's
turnover creating press. He did just that and managed to dish a
few off to Martinez for easy lay-ins. 
Lovington Wildcats. The winner of this game is guaranteed a spot in the
State 3A end-of-season basketball tournament.
