Colts Face Top Ranked St. Mike's In 1st Round |

The NMMI Colt Basketball team (14-16) did make to the State 3A Tournament, which starts this weekend, but just barely. The Colts got the very last at large bid, and seeded at 16, will have to travel to Santa Fe to play against the top ranked Horsemen (24-4).
The two teams have not yet met this season, but did have two common opponents, both of whom also made the State 3A tournament: West Las Vegas (4) and L.V. Robertson (15). While the Colts lost to both teams, 41-71 and 41-57 respectively, St. Michael's split with West Las Vegas (57-58 and 62-51) and swept L.V. Robertson (80-52 and 62-54).
While it seems that Coach Carrasco will have his hands full trying to prepare for St. Mike's, remember there's a reason we go ahead and play these games, despite the odds. Remember too that it's the time of March Madness, when the Davids, dark horses, and Cinderellas of the basketball world get their chance to pull off the big upsets.
