Colts Earn 10th Seed at
State Tournament

— Colt basketball’s remarkable turnaround continues as the
Colts earned the 10th seed in the New Mexico Class 3A State
Tournament. The Colts will travel to Wingate next Saturday
to take on the 7th seed.
The Colts
made a great run a the district championship, but fell 2
points short in a double overtime loss to Portales in the
district championship game.
The Colts
began their run at the district title on Tuesday when they
dismantled Ruidoso 76-46. Connor Williamson led the team
with 23 points. DeMarcus Doucette had a solid game with 13
while Andrew Cowan poured in 11 points.
In round
two of the district tournament, the Colts traveled down to
Lovington to take on the Wildcats. There, they won a hard
fought game 56-51. Williamson added 16 points while Tom
Bottomly pulled down 6 rebounds.
Prior to
the Colts 52-50 loss to Portales in the championship game,
they had won their previous four games and 7 of their last 8
games.
In the
first round of the state playoffs, the Colts will travel to
Wingate for a game on Saturday, March 3. Game time is set
for 6 pm. The Colts finished the regular season with an
18-10 record.
