Doucette’s Bucket Lifts NMMI over Portales

Roswell, NM – The NMMI Colt basketball team won a thriller in front of the entire corps of cadets in Cahoon Armory on Friday night.  Seven seconds remained on the clock when junior guard DeMarcus Doucette took the ball at half court.  The rest of the Colts spread out to open the floor, leaving Doucette with a one-on-one opportunity.  He raced down the middle of the court, as two Portales defenders converged on him he leaped towards the basket laying it in with only one second remaining in the game.  Portales was unable to inbound the ball with the time remaining and the Colts won the game 37-36. 

 

Eduardo Martinez led the Colts with 9 points while Todd McBroom led the Rams with 14 points. The Colts improve to 14-8 on the season and are 3-2 in district play.  Portales falls to 12-8 and 4-1 in district.
