Colt Classic Washed Out

Roswell, NM – The final round of the NMMI-Sertoma Colt Classic was canceled due to unplayable field conditions caused by Friday’s rain storms. Friday’s games had been moved to Dexter due to flooding at NMMI Field.
In Dexter, Gateway Christian bounced back from a 2-1 loss to St. Michael’s to beat Dexter 7-0. NMMI took a 5-3 lead into the top of the seventh inning when Tularosa exploded for ten runs and eventually went on to win the game 13-7. St. Michael’s led Eunice 4-0 in the third inning before rain and lightening halted the action. The final game of the day between Capitan and Santa Rosa was later canceled.
The entire schedule slated for Saturday had to be canceled after Friday evening’s rainstorms soaked both the NMMI Field and the Dexter field. Crews from both NMMI and Dexter worked tirelessly to get the field ready to play, but Mother Nature would not permit.
New Mexico Military Institute would like to thank the Roswell Sertoma Club for their role is putting on this thirteenth annual tournament. They would also like to extend their appreciation to all those in Dexter that worked so hard to get as many games in as possible.
