Boese No-hits Lovington
5/1/07
Roswell, NM --
NMMI's senior left handed pitcher James Boese completed one of the
rarest feats in all of sports as he pitched a complete game no-hitter in
the Colts' 10-0 win over the Lovington Wildcats.
Needing a
victory to improve their post-season chances, the Colts were firing on
all cylinders in game one. Boese's no-hitter included four
strikeouts against three walks. He was provided with quality
defensive play behind him as the Colts did not commit an error.
Offensively,
Boese provided the spark that got the Colt offense rolling in the first
inning. With Andrew Cowan on second base, Boese smacked a double
into the right-center gap scoring the first run of the game.
The Colts went
on to put up nine more runs in their 10-0 victory over the Wildcats.
Head Coach Charlie Ward had this to say about Boese's performance,
"Right now, I like our chances with anyone in the state with Boese on
the mound."
In the second
game, the Colts let a 2-2 ball game get ugly as Lovington erupted for
thirteen unanswered runs giving them the 15-2 victory.
With the
split, the Colts completed their regular season with an overall record
of 14-11 and a district record of 9-7, earning a third place finish.
