Colts Open District Play with Sweep of
Dexter
3/31/07
Dexter, NM --
After struggling for two games in their own tournament, the Colt
baseball team returned to form with a district doubleheader sweep of
Dexter on Saturday. The NMMI bats awoke as they broke out for 33
runs in their 15-3 and 18-2 victories.
NMMI's ace, senior left hander James Boese
received more than enough run support as he picked up his third win of
the season. Je'mari James paced the Colts while going 3-for-3 at
the plate.
Matthew Smokov picked up the win in game
two for the Colts. He was aided by the bats of Andrew Fryer and
Andrew Cowan. Fryer went 3-for-4 while Cowan went 2-for-4.
The Colts improve to 7-4 on the season and
are out to an early 2-0 lead in district play. They will play on
the road again on Saturday when they take on the Warriors from Ruidoso.
