To coach Gene Hardman it isn't all about winning every
match. Hardman is looking for the toughest competition
available. |

This weekend the Bronco's traveled to Abilene to play 3
top Texas teams. Hardin-Simmons and McMurry are both
ranked 4 year schools and Collin County is the 3rd best
JC in the country. To make the challenge even harder,
Sammy Ramoni the team's # 3 player could not make the
trip. Here are the results: |

The Broncos lost 5-4. Greg Mitchell, Chris Toil and
Roman Fulgenzi won at the number 1,2 and 3 slots. The #3
doubles team of Danny Dominguez and Rene Medina also
won. The Broncos needed only one more point to win. As
it turned out, Ben Mantel and Danny Dominguez both lost
in 3rd set tie-breakers. A win by either would have
meant victory. Obviously the outcome would have been
different if Ramoni had played. |

The Cowboys won this match 6-3. Again Mitchell and Toli
won at 1 and 2. Dominguez and Medina won at 3 doubles
for the second straight match. Then in critical matches,
Dominguez and Medina both lost in tie-breakers. If these
2 players would have won the Broncos would have emerged
victorious. Ramoni's absence again proved critical. |

|
|
|
In the final match of the weekend the Broncos faced
Collin County Community College, the 3rd ranked team in
the nation. NMMI went down 8-1 but won a great match at
#1 doubles. After losing their first two doubles
matches, Toli and Mitchell step up to beat one of the
best teams in Junior College tennis. The other highlight
of the match was Toli at #2 sinlges. Chris played a 3
hours match only to suffer his first loss on the season,
going down 7-5 in the 3rd set after splitting the first
