Broncos Knock Off
Sul Ross State University
2/17/07
Silver City, NM -- The Bronco tennis team opened the 2007 season
with a 9-0 victory over Sul Ross State University. They
were later upended by host Western New Mexico University, but
all-in-all it was a positive start to the season.
SRSU was only able to bring three
players to the competition. Chris Toli, Vulu Fa and Colby
Morris each won their respective matches. The entire match
allowed the Broncos to hit a few balls and get ready for their
next match against WNMU.
After the match with SRSU in the
morning, NMMI played an exciting match against WNMU Saturday
afternoon. The Broncos lost the four hour match 7-2 but
the contest was much closer than the final score would indicate.
The Institute lost their #1 singles and #3 doubles in a
tie-breaker and played well at both the #4 and #6 singles.
