Four Broncos Earn All-WSFL Honors

11/26/07

Phoenix, AZ – New Mexico Military Institute had four players selected to the Western States Football League All-Conference Team.  Hollan Fiu and Troy Seivwright-Adams earned fist team honors while Darrell Armstead and Kevin Perez were listed on the second team.

Fiu, a sophomore linebacker from Pago Pago, American Samoa, earned first team honors following one of the most impressive defensive performances by a Bronco in recent history.  After playing primarily special teams as a freshman in 2006, Fiu established himself as one of the top linebackers in the country.  He ranked third in the National Junior College Athletic Association with 124 tackles, including 85 solo tackles.  He also ranked second in the conference with 10.5 sacks in 11 games.

Seivwright-Adams, a freshman from Toronto, Canada, was the top return specialist in the WSFL this season.  As a punt return man he led the league with a 21.4 punt return average.  He also led the league with 3 punt returns for touchdowns including a season long 68-yard return against Arizona Western College.

Sophomore wide receiver Darrell Armstead, from Copperas Cove, Texas, earned second team honors after pulling in 35 receptions for 525 yards and 4 touchdowns.  Armstead provided NMMI’s triple-option offense with a legitimate deep threat in the passing game.

Perez, a freshman kicker from El Paso, Texas, earned second team honors.  In the 2007 campaign, Perez led NMMI with 62 points scored while converting on 36 of 39 point-after-tries and 8 of 13 field goals.  Perez connected on a 52-yard field goal on his first try of the season.  That field goal ranked as the NJCAA’s second longest this season.
