Top Ranked Snow College Defeats NMMI 45-14

11/10/07

Ephraim, UT – It was a game of two different halves between New Mexico Military Institute and Snow College.  NMMI would gain the early momentum only to fade in the second half as Snow came on strong for the 45-14 victory.

NMMI looked to shock the top ranked Snow College Badgers with a well played first half.  NMMI was firing on all cylinders in the first half as they put up 213 yards of total offense on the nation’s second ranked defense.

Snow got the scoring started with 6:57 remaining in the first quarter.  Running back Niu Takai scored on a 13 yard run.

NMMI answered with a scoring drive of their own.  Defensive back turned running back Kenyon Littles took the pitch 29 yards for a Bronco touchdown.  Kevin Perez converted the point-after-try to tie the score at 7-7.

NMMI’s Eljae Faoagali stripped the ball from the Snow ball carrier, stopping the Snow march towards the end zone.  The Broncos used a fake punt to extend the drive when Stephen Baca found Diante Farley on a 21-yard completion.  NMMI then benefited from a face guarding pass interference call in the end zone.  That infraction put the Broncos on the one yard line where Baca carried the ball over the line to give the Broncos the lead.  NMMI led 14-7 after the Perez extra point.

Snow would answer with two scoring drives before the end of the half to give them the 21-14 lead.

The second half was dominated by Snow as the scored 24 of their 38 unanswered points.

Snow totaled 485 yards of total offense to NMMI’s 315.  NMMI concludes their season with a 3-8.  Snow wrapped up the WSFL title with an 8-0 conference record and 11-0 overall and have earned a spot in the national championship game with their opponent to be determined later.
