Solis Leads Broncos to a Split with Luna
3/25/07
Las Vegas, NM --
The Bronco baseball team returned to action after nearly a two week
layoff. Following spring break, five games were canceled due
to weather and other incidents. Sophomore right-hander Ismael
Solis pitched a complete game in the first game as the Broncos
handled Luna Community College 9-1. In game two, the Broncos
let a late lead slip away as LCC was able to comeback and defeat
NMMI 17-10 in the nightcap.
Solis threw his
first complete game of the season as he limited LCC to only one run
on eight hits. He improved to 2-4 on the season with the win.
The Broncos managed
17 hits in the first game, including three hits by Sean Kaerwer,
Carlos Marrujo and Hank Dickinson.
In game two, the
Broncos held an 8-2 lead in the bottom of the third inning before
LCC put up four runs, cutting the NMMI lead down to 8-6. NMMI
would later lead 10-9 going into the bottom of the sixth inning but
gave up eight runs to the Rough Riders. Clay Bradford, Sean
Kaerwer and Brian Bustos each had two hits for the Broncos, but it
wasn't enough as LCC went on to win 17-10.
The Broncos record
stands at 7-20 on the season with a doubleheader against Wayland
Baptist JV scheduled for Wednesday. WJCAC action will resume
on Friday as the Broncos host Howard College. The four-game
series is set to begin at 12 pm on Friday.
