NMMI Splits Twin Bill with Luna

Roswell, NM – New
Mexico Military Institute split two games of a doubleheader with
Luna Community College, winning the first game 6-5 and dropping the
second game 13-8. This was the first home series of the year for
the Broncos after playing the first 11 games of the season on the
road.
Clay Bradford
picked up the win in relief for the Broncos as he closed the game
with two innings of one hit ball. Sergio Marquez broke the 5-5 tie
in the bottom of the seventh inning with a run scoring double,
giving NMMI the 6-5 lead. Bradford came of for a scoreless seventh
to finish the game.
In game two,
Marquez held Luna scoreless through three innings before they
erupted for 9 runs. Down 13-4 in the bottom of the seventh inning,
the Broncos mounted a four-run rally but fell short 13-8.
Sophomore Jesus
Flores led the Broncos with 4 hits on the day while driving in 2
runs and scoring another 2 runs. The Broncos record stands at 3-10
on the season while LCC is now 1-12. NMMI will be at home again on
Wednesday when they take on Wayland Baptist University JV. The
doubleheader is set to begin at 12 noon at NMMI Field.
