This
year's summer pentathlon camp honed the talents of 25 youth athletes in
4 of the 5 modern pentathlon competitions: shooting, fencing, swimming
and running. The fifth event, riding (equestrian show jumping) is
not a part of youth pentathlons. Participants came from across the
United States as well as Guatemala and Poland. In addition to the
training provided by Coach Jan Olesinski during the camp, events
culminated with the 2008 USA Pentathlon Youth Championships on Friday
and Saturday (June 27 and 28). This competition served as a
qualifier for the International Youth Pentathlon Championships in Albena,
Bulgaria for the top three USA contestants within each division.
