I am excited to announce the formation of the Office of Alumni Relations and the hiring of Jim Lowe as the Director of Alumni Relations. Jim has an incredible background as a senior officer in numerous companies and brings a depth of business knowledge that is needed to run such an organization. It is value added that he is an Alum and that his Father was a long time NMMI employee.
Jim and I will be working together to develop programs and communication vehicles that reach all of this great Institute’s Alumni. It will be our objective to expand the active participation by our Alum’s. One of our first initiatives will be a membership drive. I was shocked to learn that only 241 Alum’s were annual members last year. At $50 per year, this is the best economic deal you could find. For less than one dollar a week you will have access to all NMMI publications and publications specifically generated by the Office of Alumni Relations. You will receive notifications of Alumni chapter meetings and events in your area, as well as here on Post.
Our commitment is that all services, traditions and functions will be continued and enhanced. By creating this office, it allows us to use the entire resources of NMMI to connect with and service our Alumni.
As I travel on behalf of NMMI, I am asked frequently, “How can I help?” My answer is get involved. If you are not a member of the Alumni Organization, sit down now and write a check. The cost is tax deductible and opens all channels of communications with NMMI. The second part of getting involved is to participate in the activities sponsored by the Office of Alumni Relations. The 24th Annual Trail Ride will be held June 12-15, 2013. If you have never attended a Trail Ride, now is the time to start. We are well into the planning for Homecoming 2013. Homecoming is open to all Alum’s, not just the honored classes. Put down the dates, October 16-19, 2013 and plan to return to Post.
There has never been a better time than the present to get involved with NMMI.
