Business Department Learning Objectives

Upon graduation from NMMI, a cadet* will be able to:

1)    demonstrate a knowledge of basic business vocabulary 

2)    employ academic skills in listening, note taking, oral presentations, and writing.

3)    reveal understanding of the implications of changing technology such as the Internet, electronic commerce, and the impact computers have on society.

4)    use current technologies for research, individualized learning, and preparation of assignments.

5)    explain the free market economy and its place in the global economy

6)    demonstrate a knowledge of micro and macro economic issues affecting allocation decisions

7)    identify the fundamental structural principles used for sole proprietorships, partnerships, and corporations.

8)    explain the interconnectivity of the various business disciplines

9)    define the role of ethics and social responsibility within the business community, society and government.

10)    demonstrate critical thinking skills through case problem analysis, problem solving techniques and graphical analysis.

*This presumes that a cadet will have completed course work in this field.
