Autobiography
Terri Castillo was born in
Emporia, Kansas and came to Roswell as a result of her father being stationed at
Walker Air Force Base. She was raised in Roswell, graduated with honors from
Roswell High School. She obtained her Bachelor’s of Business from New Mexico
State University with a Major in Management and a Minor in Economics in May of
1982 and in 1983 a son, Robert J. Garvey IV, was born. She returned to school,
working full-time, and received her Master’s in Business Administration in
December, 1988. Since that time she has obtained her high school certification
and 72+ hours above her Master’s. On June 23, 2007 she not only married a
wonderful man, Roger Castillo, but welcomed Nicole and R.K. into their family.
She began teaching and
advising at New Mexico Military Institute in August, 1989 and has taught both
high school and college business and computer courses. She was selected for
Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers from 1998-2003 and has served as Department
Chair for Business since 2001 and as alternating Technology Liaison within the
division.
In addition, Terri is
active in her church and pursues her business interests through Mary Kay
Cosmetics. She’s an adjunct faculty member for Eastern New Mexico
University-Roswell and Wayland Baptist University-Clovis.
She enjoys the ability to
work closely with her colleagues and students alike and embraces change as she
views it as a challenge to improve herself and her teaching. Terri has a strong
interest in technology and the uses available to herself, fellow faculty, and
especially her students. She strongly believes that as an educator she must stay
abreast of current trends and technologies for each course she teaches.
