ISCT: Laptop Lease Program

     Who can participate?

All new cadets starting the Fall 2014 semester or after and any cadet that chooses to opt in.

What is included in the system?

A HP laptop with a minimum of 4GB of memory, 1.7 Intel Core i-5, 14. inch LED, network card 128Gb Solid State HD, Windows 7 pro, Office 365,CD/DVD-RW, warranty service,  Antivirus/Anti-Spyware software, and anti-theft/recovery software.

What to do if there are problems with the laptop?

Hardware support for the leased laptops will be provided by the HP warranty. All maintenance and repairs on laptops will be taken care of by Information Systems, Communications, and Technologies (ISCT) staff.

A few of the laptops will be held in reserve so that cadets may “borrow” a reserve laptop during those periods while the leased machine is under repair.

In the event of serious software problems the standard procedure will be to rebuild the machine’s hard disk to its issue state, a serious problem being defined as requiring more than ten minutes diagnosing.

What is the cost?

The cost of the yearly lease will be charged as a non-returnable fee per semester to affected cadets. NMMI expects to recover the cost of the program. Currently, the cost is $200 a semester.

Cadets will be responsible for the purchase of expendable supplies such as removable disks, etc.
The cadet or cadet’s parents must sign a lease contract document. This document is collected by the NMMI Business office at matriculation, and stored in the Business Office.

Where are the machines distributed?
ISCT will distribute the machines.
ISCT will also check-in laptops when cadets leave the Institute for any reason and at the end of the spring semester. At that time the laptop will be examined to assure it is in working condition, that all parts have been returned, and the hard disk rebuilt.
